culture stage 1.1 recognize similarities and differences in the target cultures and between student's own cultures.
There are a lot of things different from koren and America's culture. in Korea, there the traditional holidays are all in the dates of the lunar calendar. that means that the dates of the holiday will change every year. one of the holidays are Korean New Years. in Korean New Years Day, people wear a traditional dress code called han-bok. Also, they do the fan dance wearing the hanbok.
There are Korean instruments that people use to perform. Koreans respect visitors or people we know, we bow 90 degrees and say hello in Korean and when they leave, we bow 90 degrees and say farewell in Korean.

In Lunar New Year's Day we dress up in Korean traditional outfits called hanbok. we do New Year's bows, which is called sebae. we bow to our grandparents first and then our parents. Usually, they give us money, but some families might not.
A baby's first birthday is called dol. This day is the day when the baby is turning one and the families and friends gather to the party. we put things on a table, for example, pencil, money, books, threads, microphones, etc, and let the baby choose. After the baby chooses "predicts their future" of what they are going to be when they grow up.

In American holidays, people usually just meet up with friends and families, and have dinner and play. It is not as festive as Korea and also in the first birthdays, it is just like other birthdays. America is not as traditional as Korea. Also, America doesn't use the lunar calendar so the holiday dates are the same every year. Like Korea, America celebrates for the holidays and also they have their own national anthem (like every other states do).
food differences
There are a lot of traditional food in Korea but in America, there aren't as much. In America, people eat a lot of fast food and the most popular ones are hamburgers. The traditional food for America are mainly Turkey for Thanksgiving and cake for birthdays.
In Korea, we eat a lot of traditional food. Some examples are, in a birthday, we eat something called seaweed soup and in New Years Day, you eat rice cake soup. Some regularly traditional foods and side dish are kimchi, cold noodle soup, and spicy rice cake. There are much more traditional tasty Korean food but there are so many that I cant list all of them.
The side dishes are really important to Koreans because the rice tastes sort of plain and the side dishes give it the better taste. In Korea, most people don't do this anymore but, the oldest person in the family, the grandfather, eats first and then everyone starts to eat. If you eat before him, it is called disrespectful.
