Cubism Painting
1) Which character did you choose to base your composition on? Why did you choose that character?
For my composition I chose a girl soldier named Oola. She has goggles and is dressed up like a soldier. I chose Oola because I thought it would be fun to abstract on her armor because it would have to be metal. Also her goggles and her hair would be easy to abstract.
2)Which style of Cubism did you use? How can we tell, cite specific examples from your work for justification (explanation)?
The style of cubism I used was synthetic and I know this because I used different types of medias to create the artwork. I used paint, tissue paper, and chalk to complete the work and since I used three different medias, I used synthetic cubism.
3)What does Analytical Cubism mean? How does the artist create this style?
Analytical Cubism means to change the work into simple shapes or forms. In analytical cubism, we use simplified shapes to abstract original works or we can create our own artwork with the style. People create this by using cubism to break down things into smaller, more complex shapes.
4)What does Synthetic Cubism mean? Describe how this is different than Analytical Cubism.
Synthetic cubism means to mimic/imitate something. For example you can imitate texture and surface. Synthetic Cubism is different from Analytical Cubism because in synthetic, we use multi media. By using multi media, we create the different textures and surfaces on he artworks.
5)What is Hermetic Cubism? How does an artist create this style? What are the steps needed to create Hermetic Cubism?
Hermetic Cubism means you can't tell what the subject or object in the artwork is anymore. In the type of cubism you can only use a neutral palette and the artwork has to be extremely complex and abstract.
6)How could you improve your project? Give specific examples with solutions of how you would fix them.
I would improve my project by making my artwork look more complicated and use hermetic cubism with a neutral palette instead of using synthetic cubism with bright colors. I would add more geometric shapes wherever there are less shapes like the hair/horns.
