Buddha is actually Siddhartha Gautama and he was named Buddha because he made The 4 Noble Truths and that became a religion called Buddhism. A priest predicted that when Siddhartha grows up, he would be a wandering holy man so Siddhartha's father locked him up in the palace because he didn't want him to see fear. When Siddhartha turned 29 years old, he went outside of the palace and saw all the problems, sicknesses, and deaths and that upset him so he fled from the palace. He did that to search for peace and he starved himself for sacrifice but these actions didn't answer his requests. Later on, he sat under a fig tree meditating until everything clicked. He believed that people had to believe and follow The 4 Noble Truths and had to suppress the wants and follow the Eightfold Path. Later on, he became Buddha and his teachings became a religion called Buddhism. Later on, a Maurya king called Asoka the great came in and he believed in Buddhism. He wanted to follow Buddhist teachings and rule peacefully by law. Asoka and Buddhist rulers sent missionaries to bring convert to Buddhism but he was still tolerant to other religions. Since he was a great leader, when he passed away, everything collapsed.
