7.LS.5b I know organ systems function because of the contributions of individual organs, tissues, and cells. The failure of any part can affect the entire system. This standard relates to my dissection lab because, I had to identify the organs inside the body and it was part of my hypothesis. Also, in science, we have learned that that if there is any failure of any parts of the systems, it can effect the whole system.
The steps I took to complete and do well on this assignment was to first, write all the materials/tools down and then write my question/hypothesis. Then, I started to cut the placenta open to find the fetal pig. Next, I cut another thin layer supporting the pig and then, I got it out. Then, I cut the umbilical cord. My team cut open the pig and took out almost all the organs inside the body. After that, we cut open the jaw and the skull and finally, we answered all the questions to the lab.
This assignment demonstrates that I know the organs of the fetal pig. Also, it demonstrates that I can dissect an unborn animal. It demonstrates that I can handle a fetal pig for the first time and that I can answer questions about the pig.
I could've improved on this assignment by being more careful and trying to be professional instead of screaming because of the smell. Also, I could've improved on answering the questions a little bit more careful so that it wasn't harmful to our lad. Finally, I could've improved on giving other people chances of handling the pig because I thing I was with the pig the most.
I can apply the skills I learned from this assignment to when later on, I become a person who study carcass. This will help me to know how to cut fetal animals and to know where to cut. Also, I can apply the skills I learned to when I want to know the parts of the bodies and where what is.
