1. Rewrite the standard in your own words. How does the assignment relate to the standard?
8.8.2 Describe the purpose, challenges, and economic incentives associated with westward expansion, including the concept of Manifest Destiny (e.g., the Lewis and Clark expedition, accounts of the removal of Indians, the Cherokees' "Trail of Tears," settlement of the Great Plains) and the territorial acquisitions that spanned numerous decades. This standard means that we had to write about the westward expansion and the Manifest Destiny which I did talk about with my group members. Also, we had to write about Lewis and Clark and the Indian tribes that had to move out of their own homes. Since I had to talk about Mountain Men, I needed to know who they were and understand what they did. The Mountain Men were basically male trappers and explorers and they discovered new routes for the Americans to use.
2. What steps did you take to complete the assignment?
The steps I took to do this assignment was to work together with my group to finish the project. We found information about the subject by using the history book and drew our pictures. We colored our pictures to make the drawings look better and we wrote all the things down on the poster paper. After we were finished, we had to present about our subject to the whole class and make questions for the class to fill out to see if they were listening or not.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment shows that I can work together with my group and create a poster. It shows that we can gather information about the Manifest destiny and other things listed in the standard by using resources that were necessary like the textbook, internet, and Ms. Park. Lastly, it shows that I can make decorations by drawing and not printing our pictures.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I could've improved on my worked by making it a little bit more neater. As you can see the paragraphs are out of order so I could've put the paragraphs in order to make it easier for me to present and or the audience to understand better. When I presented, I should've memorized what I was going to say so that I didn't need to look back at the poster every time I said something new.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in the real world, as an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I could apply the skills I learned from this assignment to when I present later on in my life. I could memorize what I am going to say so I do not have to look back to the poster when I present. Also, I can use his project in the real world because to do this project, I had to work as a team and cooperate with one another and in the real world, when I have to work, I will have to work together to accomplish something.
