culminating project reflection
1. Rewrite the standard in your own words. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
The standard of this project is RL7.2: Determine a theme or main idea of a text and examine its development over the course of the text; give an objective summary of the text. This standard relates to this assignment because in this assignment I had to do the things that the standard said. For example, I had to talk about the main idea/ Panchito's life, the things that happened, and his feelings. I couldn't talk about anything like another book and compare it because it was in his perspective. I talked about the text/ the book "Breaking Through" and the things that occurred in Panhito's life and made it detailed as possible like the standard says.
2. What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
The steps I took to complete and do well on this assignment is to skim through "Breaking Through" and also to try my best to remember what happened in the paragraphs. I had to kind of imagine how the main character felt of the events that happened. I had to make sure there were no grammatical mistakes so that the project looked professional. I didn't think this would've been important but I realized that have the right similar dates were important too because if the dates were mixed up, I think that would've been a grade too. The last thing I had to do well in this assignment was to keep the project Panchito's point of view, not mine.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths…
This assignment demonstrates my strength of writing a diary and me being able to guess/imagine the feelings that people are feeling. The project is about a boy that is writing a diary and I wrote the diary. It shows that I can make diaries about other peoples' lives. The strength of being able to imagine the feelings and thoughts of people is what I had to do and I wasn't really supposed to guess but the book didn't really tell me a lot of Panchito's feelings. That happened a lot on the paragraphs I wrote about only.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by …
I could've improved my work on this assignment by telling more about the characters' feelings because I couldn't really write a lot about the feelings. Also I could've improved in making more sentence and making the feelings more descriptive. For example, instead of saying he was happy I could've said he was jolly, excited, happy because..., etc. Also I should've put Panchito's thoughts on how others thought and why he thought they were feeling that way. I could've put vocabulary so that it would look like I know the meanings of the vocabulary words in ELA.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I will apply the skills I learned from this assignment to when I have to write journals and diaries. That is because in journals you write in first point of view and talk about the things you did or want or based on the topic. For diaries you use the first point of view too and also you need to talk about that you think and your feelings. I can also use it on other projects like this and when have to show people how to make a diary. I can show them an example which is the project I did and they can get ideas.
